Renowned for its thousand page tomes and epic sized TV series, Game of Thrones is reportedly set to make another shift in size in a rumoured Game of Thrones movie according to Tywin Lannister actor Charles Dance.

He has said that “there’s talk of eventually trying to do a feature film, but I don’t know which of  the story lines.” The actor – who plays the fantastically awful Tywin Lannister – in the hit TV show said it was difficult to decide because there is “so much to cream into a film.”

George RR Martin’s New Book was “a lot of work”

Although there have been rumours about the possibility of the Game of Thrones movie for some time, this is the first time the show’s producers have actually been reported discussing it.

George RR Martin, the writer of The Song of Ice and Fire (on which the series is based), and executive producer of the series has previously mentioned that the series may have to be wrapped up by a feature film but would depend on how many series the TV show goes to.

“The books get bigger and bigger (in scope)” he said at the premiere for the fourth season,”those dragons get real big, you know.”

There is also talk that there may eventually be a film based on some of Martin’s other work based in Westeros, he has written numerous short stories and has many more ideas which could feasibly become part of the Game of Thrones world.

Although fans are surely relishing the opportunity for a film, they are probably most preoccupied with Martin’s progress on the latest book in the epic series (it is still unfinished, with at least two more epic tomes left to write). But the last comment we had from the sixty-six year old on that topic was “Fuck you”.

In an interview earlier this year he said that it was “pretty offensive” for fans to speculate on his death and health. Many have concerns that the series will remain unfinished because of the writer’s preoccupation with other things. His age and weight (he’s a large man) are major bones of contention.

He had previously written about fan’s desires for him to finish the books in 2009 by writing:

“Some of you are angry that I watch football during the fall … some of you hate my other projects … some of you don’t want me attending conventions, teaching workshops, touring and doing promo, or visiting places like Spain and Portugal (last year) or Finland (this year). More wasting time, when I should be home working on A Dance with Dragons,” wrote Martin. “After all, as some of you like to point out in your emails, I am 60 years old and fat, and you don’t want me to ‘pull a Robert Jordan’ on you and deny you your book.”

Martin’s most recent book in the Game of Thrones The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones which – according to the writer’s blog – was “a lot of work”. Perhaps now fans can rejoice that he may be back on task.
